The BreathScan PRO system is designed for use by law enforcement officers and other professionals who require the advantages of a single-use system for multiple tests combined with the accuracy and precision of a digital breath alcohol detector. By incorporating the proven, low cost BreathScan tube and ReCon technology, the cost per test for BreathScan is considerably less than the cost of testing using electronic units, requiring minimal user training and simple ‘no button’ operation in the field
BreathScan does not require third party calibration and has a straightforward test procedure that is simple to use.
Product Description
The test subject exhales into the BreathScan PRO detector and the detector is inserted into the digital analyser. Using proprietary technology, the analyser takes only two minutes to display precise, quantitative results of breath alcohol levels, ranging from 0.00 per cent to 0.15 per cent and above.
Technology
The reagent within the enhanced BreathScan tube is based on Akers Biosciences, Inc. (ABI) proprietary Micro Particle Catalyzed (MPC) Biosensor technology, which permits precise, rapid identification of a wide range of medical conditions through biomarkers in breath condensate.
The reactive micro particles are packaged into an ampoule in the tube, which is crushed immediately prior to use, releasing the particles. Through a catalyzed process, these reactive particles form a complex with a biomarker in the breath condensate which is then viewed as a colour change.
In the BreathScan PRO system, the detector crystals are formulated to change colour in the presence of ethyl alcohol in a breath condensate sample. The detector is inserted into the digital analyser where proprietary technology initiates a colour assessment and delivers a precise %BAC result ranging from 0.000% to 0.150% Blood Alcohol Content (BAC). The analyser will display the message BAC > 0.150% for test subjects with a BAC that exceeds 0.150%.
